Devon Minckley was a big pass rushing threat at defensive end the past few seasons for the Prairie View football team.

Using his bull-rushing speed to lead the Pioneer League with nine sacks in 2007, he recorded six this past season.

Minckley will look to continue his big-time play-making abilities at the collegiate level. He signed a letter of intent to play football at Coffeyville Community College on National Signing Day, last Wednesday.

“I’m really excited,” Coffeyville coach Darian Dulian said. “He plays hard and brings a lot of character.
“His speed off the edge plays really well to what we do and is tenacious and getting off to the ball.”
Dulian said Minckley is a blue-collar type of player who should mold well into the Red Ravens’ philosophy.
“He epitomizes what we do,” Dulian said.

Dulian, entering his second season as head coach at Coffeyville, said Minckley could also see playing time as a hybrid tight end/halfback.

“Minckley has good hands and blocks well in space,” said Dulian, whose Red Ravens finished 3-6 this past fall.
The pipelines in college football run from Prairie View through Coffeyville. Dulian has known Buffalos coach Murray Zogg for the past eight years. Zogg served as the offensive line coach at Coffeyville from 2000 through 2006, and in a dual capacity as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach from 2003 through 2006.

Former Prairie View graduates Justin Haupt and Billy Chambers, who completed his sophomore season, played at Coffeyville this past season. Minckley will join Haupt this fall.
