Vipers Win 51 Events, Defeat Ottawa In Home Meet PDF Print E-mail

Winning 51 events, the Miami County Vipers defended its home waters at the Miami County YMCA with a victory against Ottawa.

The Vipers defeated Ottawa in the June 24 meet, 1,816 to 806.

Meghan Schasteen placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, the 50-yard butterfly and the 50-yard backstroke in the girl’s 12-year-old and under division.

Swimming in the 6-year-old and under division, Ian Heid placed first in the butterfly and individual medley. He also swam on the first place 100-yard medley relay.
Dylan Runyan placed first in the 25-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle, competing in the 7-8 and under division.

Emily Benton won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard individual medley in the 9-10 and under girl’s division.

Gabe Cunningham placed first in the 25-yard butterfly and the 25-yard breaststroke in the boy’s 9-10 and under division.

Israel Gulley was first in the 50-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard individual medley, competing in the boys 12-year-old and under division.

Caitlan Schasteen, 13-14 women’s, placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard backstroke.

Brandon Hall, 13-14 boy’s, won the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard backstroke. Grant Meimer, swimming in the same division, won the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle.

Liz Brown, 15-18 women’s, won the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard backstroke.

Nathan Laudan, 15-18 boy’s, won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard individual medley.

The Vipers awarded honors for most improved and hardest working lane in June. Journey Capettini was named the most improved. Hardest working lane were P.J. Capettini, Israel Gulley and Dylan Runyan.
