With Independence Day fast approaching, many neighborhoods in Linn County communities have echoed with the sounds of nearby explosions. La Cygne City Clerk Gary Mahon said legal fireworks may be discharged in that city between 6 a.m. and midnight from June 27 to July 5. “But absolutely no bottle rockets are allowed,” he said. “People cannot discharge under any parked motorcycle or motor vehicle or in the path of moving bicycles, motorcycles or motor vehicles.” Parker ordinances permit the sale of fireworks within the city limits and the use of fireworks between June 27 and July 5. The explosion of fireworks on Main Street or within 100 feet of any public place or business is prohibited. Mound City allows fireworks usage between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. from June 28 to July 3 and from 10 a.m. to midnight July 4. Pleasanton allows the discharge of fireworks between 8 a.m. and midnight from June 27 to July 4.
